LAST CALL FOR ENTERTAINMENT FOR THE U.S. TROOPS;

And the Bar-Kays are Asked to Bring the Funk

            (July 5, 2010 – Memphis, TENN) The legendary R&B funk group, the Bar-Kays, have been asked to come back to Iraq and Kuwait to perform for our United States troops once again.  They have been honored with the privilege of being the last celebrity music entertainment group to go overseas to entertain our military before the 50,000 U.S. troops leave the area in August. The Bar-Kays have been bringing the funk and soul to the world for over 40 years and after leaving such a lasting impression on the troops from their 2008 performance in Iraq and Kuwait, they are now going back by popular demand to give those men and women of our military one last amazing show.

 Many artists and celebrities have taken advantage of the opportunity to travel to the military bases in Iraq and Kuwait over the years.  Everyone from comedian Sheryl Underwood, to Naughty By Nature, to the Chicago Bears, to Charlie Wilson has taken time to say thank you by visiting a military base overseas and performing.  Now the Bar-Kays will do so and sign over 5,000 autographs, as they did on their last visit, while having funky good time.

 This iconic group originating from STAX Records with 29 albums, 23 hit records and featured recently on TV ONE’s “Unsung” will be performing in Iraq and Kuwait, but for security purpose, specific dates cannot be revealed.  “It is truly an honor to be asked to perform again for such a distinguished group, and as they have been a blessing to us, we hope to really be the same for them,” says the leaders of the Bar-Kays Larry Dodson and James Alexander.
